BYAKKO FACT

Master Gichin Funakoshi (the 'Father of Japanese Karate') wrote, "The ultimate aim of karate lies not in victory nor defeat, but in the perfection of the character of its participants"
He had the firm belief that karate was not only a form of physical exercise and conditioning, but also as a way to build character and mental discipline.
Karate's roots date back to the fighting arts of China, however; these arts spread to Okinawa. In 1955, Master Funakoshi established the Japan Karate Association.
